What is FL-LOWPA's Special Projects Fund?
Purpose
The Water Resources Board (governing body of FL-LOWPA) administers the competitive Special Projects Fund to encourage multi-county collaboration and watershed-based programming. The Water Resources Board seeks project proposals consistent with the mission statement of FL-LOWPA:
To facilitate processes that encourage watershed partnerships and implementation of action plans to protect and enhance water quality based on:
Local needs assessments
Holistic approaches
Information exchange and public education
Measurable goals and milestones for continuous improvement
Who Can Apply?
A Request for Proposals is usually issued in September of each year, including specific eligibility requirements; guidelines for proposals; and criteria for evaluation. Innovative and collaborative projects are encouraged. For administrative purposes, one FL-LOWPA county - and its representative agency on the Water Resources Board - must be identified as the lead agency on the project. However, other agencies, academic institutions, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations are encouraged to partner on projects. Proposal ideas may come from cooperators who may enlist the lead agency.
Project Results and Reports
As sharing information is a primary goal of FL-LOWPA, outcomes of SPF projects are reported on at the annual FL-LOWPA Spring Workshop, Substainable Watersheds Conference, Full Board Meertings and/or are available in written format through the lead agency and Water Resources Board.
